Village Prenatal Gathering

For pregnant women and supporting women who care about birth options

We come together in this special gathering to help our pregnant sisters feel nurtured, heard, supported and nourished through sharing a nutritious vegetarian lunch, stories, a talking circle, meditation and more. As supporters we are grandmothers, mothers, sisters, aspiring midwives and professional midwives, doulas, nurses, doctors, yoga teachers, psychiatrists, pharmacists, energy and body workers, ministers, and other women who care deeply about simple and sacred birth; we gather out of selfless service to support and encourage the instinctual life of those with us wanting to birth in power against a modern current of fear and unnecessary interventions.

Together our support offers the younger women…
• Nourishment and inspiration for their body, babies and spirit
• The feeling of being bathed in a sense of belonging
• Trust in their intuition
• Strengthened confidence in their body and its knowledge of the best answers for it (whether ‘natural’ or otherwise)
• Belief in themselves and tools to recognize their inner knowing
• Motivation to ‘do it their own way’
• Encouragement to speak their Truth
• A place to find peace in making their own decisions

For all who wish to come, please email Colette, who is organizing the shared lunch: colette@seattleholisticcenter.com. If you want to bring a beloved elder woman in your life please do! We only ask that she email Colette and arrange to bring a potluck dish to share, along with the other elders and supporters in our gathering.

Parent/Caregiver Lunch - free!

Join us and FormFuture in this special opportunity to help the designers with a prototype of a bedside sleeper with your feedback. And lunch is provided - free!

Please sign up so we know how many lunches to provide. Register here.

This is from the designers:

You may have heard from Colette that we are looking for your feedback with a product for newborn babies that we designed and developed in the last few months.

Back in 2014, we learned that being a new parent takes almost super human powers. Endless nights with a crying baby are balanced with all those moments of joy that come with parenthood. What we noticed through our experience, was that it was difficult to find an infant bedside sleeper that was safe, easy to use while being made of natural materials.

So in late 2018 we set out on a mission to change that. We left our jobs and founded Formfuture with the goal to work on projects that are good for people and the planet. We designed a bedside sleeper for babies and are now at a point where your feedback, ideas and concerns will be a critical part in helping us finalize a design which could make a positive impact on the industry. We would like you to experience the prototype of our product and fill out a questionnaire at the next Caregiver Tea. We expect this to take no longer than 40 minutes and would like to treat you to a healthy lunch for all your help.

We are hopeful that you can participate and super excited about the opportunity to get our idea in front of the people we designed it for. All information pertaining to the user-test is for internal use only. If you can, please read the attached Non-Disclosure-Agreement before the meeting which aids us in protecting our unique invention. We will have copies for you to sign before attending the lunch.

To review the NDA you can click here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Tlc7bw9d9mI_804EENZ8CYeTHdTPeQm9/view?usp=sharing

Please let Colette know if you have any dietary restrictions so we can make sure you are well fed. If you have any questions, please contact us at: hello@formfuture.com

Thank you, Herman + Thomas

International Day of Yoga: 2019 Theme - Climate Change

In 2015 the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, sanctioned June 21st to be celebrated annually as the international day of yoga.

“Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and nature.”

— Narendra Modi, UN General Assembly

Held approximately every trimester (three times per year).

The Labor Workshop

For Pregnant Women and Their Partners

New mothers often ask, “What will labor be like?” “How will I cope with the pain?”
Their partners often wonder, “Will I be able to help her the way she needs?”

In this 2-hour workshop you’ll both become more aware of how to connect with each other and feel more confident in your labor and birth with an overview of the primary tools that can help. You’ll also learn about the normal process of labor and how our environment affects it.

Additional topics include…
• Breathing, massage, acupressure and relaxation techniques
• Specific movements that may help your baby move into a more optimal position for birth
• Positions that can help mothers cope with the pain of labor

By the end of class you’ll both feel more prepared and excited about your baby’s birth. You can take this class several times if you want, and at any stage of your pregnancy.

Preregistration required. Register early as class size is limited!
If you prefer a private class, see our Private Childbirth Session further down in this section.
