Due to the flooding in Kerala, Onam celebrations have been cancelled at Amritapuri and MA Center San Ramon has followed this example. We here in the Pacific Northwest will follow suit.
The state of Kerala is experiencing some of the worst rains and floods in recent history: over 300,000 people are homeless and the death toll is rising. Amma has announced that She will donate Rs. 100 million ($1.42 million) to the Kerala chief minister's distress relief fund:http://indiacsr.in/amma-donate-rs-10-crores-kerala-flood-relief/. Amrita Hospitals are also providing medical relief throughout the state and Embracing the World volunteers are on the ground providing aid to those affected through food, water and other supplies: http://www.embracingtheworld.org/news/keralafloods-medrelief/.
We are dedicating Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, this year to pray for the people of Kerala and raise funds to support Amma's flood relief efforts. Please join us to do a small part for the people of Kerala in the true spirit of the festival.
If you are unable to join us in person please kindly consider donating online to support the relief effort. You may reach Amma's donation page here. Then select the donation option "make your contribution online", and choose "Kerala Flood Relief" from the drop down project list. Thank you!
